Latest Land Registry Prices Show Year on Year Decline
Latest Land Registry figures show that the price of an average house has fallen 0.9% in January, compared to the price of a home in January 2010. However, prices did rise 0.2% when compared to the previous month of December.
As previously discussed in our posts. The main factor inhibiting any growth in the property market is the lack of mortgage lending. We believe that until lending increases the market will remain stagnant.
However, Good news today! Surprisingly Northern Rock have announced that it will start offering riskier mortgages of up to 90%. This is somewhat different to the days of when Northern rock lent up to 125%, but we all know what that did to our economy.
