The negative side of being repossessed
When the bank do decide to repossess your home they are solely intent in getting their money back, unfortunately these actions of selling your home can have awful consequences for the original home owner.
A Sale would normally be forced through an auction and in this arena property often achieves a price far lower than it’s actual market value. If the auction price doesn’t achieve enough to cover the mortgage loan you will still be liable for the rest!
This will remain a debt in your name on The Mortgage Possession Register and the lender has up to 12 years to recover this debt.
Other Costs of being repossessed include
- You will still be liable for the arrears and all missed payments
- All ongoing interest
- Even all the costs for the disposal of your home
The Credit Rating Companies will be informed of the repossession and you will unfortunately be unable to obtain another mortgage, loan or any type of credit for many years. Many have also found it very difficult to even rent another home as lettings agents perform a credit check and will then see that you have been repossessed.
It is difficult to talk about such a negative subject but we believe that it is better to know what the consequences are than not knowing at all. And most importantly highlight that if you can, it’s far better to STOP REPOSSESSION IN IT’S TRACKS.
It is certainly worth calling us for a confidential chat to see if we can help. We have provided fair offers for many and can buy your home fast and often save you some equity. Most importantly by stopping the repossession and paying of arrears we can allow you to move on cleanly with your life without future debts.
