We get quite a few calls about downsizing the home, quite often the kids have become adults and the staircase is a problem for the older section of the community. Quite a few people have been offered a council bungalow but there are some conditions that have to be met, and I will talk about those later.
So what is retirement housing? You live independently, your own front door and you can go just as you please and inside you are responsible for the care in the home. If you need help from friends and carers they may be provided. You need to remember that normally you will purchase the property on a lease, you have to pay a service charge each month for the warden, communal lounge, laundry, gardening, maintenance etc. These can be high so watch out (I ask for the previous 3 or 4 years so I can see the progression).
Your mobility requires that you move to a council bungalow: if you get allocated a council bungalow then you have to take it, and now you have got to sell your own house. Quite often the council will require large sums of money to complete the transaction. In this slow marketplace it is very difficult to sell a house – quite often people go the the internet and essentially get ripped off – selling their house for 60-75% of its true value just to get the transaction done fast.
We are probably the one company that treats our clients fairly. We want to buy houses in this area for cash. We intend to rent them out long-term and we are willing to give you a share of the future profit too! You could have the cash in around 14 days.
