What is “nibble-ing” in a house purchase and how does it work from a buyers point of view?

Imagine you having a family and your oldest teenager comes to you and asks you if he can go to a local friends on Friday night? You reply yes.

A few hours later he wants spending money and you give him £20 pounds. A few hours later he wants your car for the evening. After thought you give him the car and say that you must return it by 11pm at the latest. Now if your son said that he wants your car to take some friends to a local nitespot you would say ‘NO’ – but via “nibbling” he has it his way. Clever huh? He takes the car on Friday night, dreams up some excuse to return it at 1.30 in the morning.
